A Different Look at Caching |
Dave Karow, Max Robbins |
 |
| |
In this session we discuss caching on the server end. More powerful than juicing up a database with memcached or maxing out the RAM on your systems, the approach we describe places a large RAM-based proxy in front of your entire current infrastructure. Even if the content is set to expire in just a few seconds, this approach can offload 90% or more of the hits on your web, application and database servers. A very disruptive technology and a very lively conversation. |

Developing High Performing Web Applications - How to Overcome Front-End Challenges and Automate Optimization |
Ben Rushlo, Bob Buffone |
 |
| |
According to Steve Souders, Google’s Web Performance guru and author of the book “High Performance Websites”, only 10-20 percent of the end-user response time is spent on the backend, yet that is where most of us spend their time on looking for improving Web performance. 80-90% of the response time occurs on the front end during component downloads of a page. In this Webcast, learn how to overcome the seven key front-end challenges and optimize your Web applications on the fly. |

Performance Testing Applications on the Internet Cloud |
Vik Chaudhary |
 |
| |
Internet computing platforms are the way apps will be developed and deployed in the future. You may be considering using cloud computing platforms like Google App Engine, Amazon Web Services, or Salesforce Force.com to host and run your applications. How do these cloud platforms assure you that your application will perform well and meet your high expectations for your end users? Take a look at how various cloud platforms make it easy or hard for you to monitor the reliability and availability of your applications. We'll also take KITE for a test drive on an application running on a cloud platform and examine any performance bottlenecks so you can answer the question “Is it the cloud, the app, or just me?” |

How to Use Virtual Profiles |
Julie Serement |
 |
| |
Learn how to script a transaction that uses dynamic values when interacting with your site. KITE enables the creation of tables of user data to support variation of login or user data related to location. This is required when an application only allows a user to login one-at-a-time, but where monitoring from multiple agent locations is required. In this case, multiple user credentials can be entered as Virtual Profiles, and each entry matched to a specific agent location to guarantee that each agent uses different data. |

Advanced Scripting: IF/THEN Scenarios |
Mike Hagerty |
 |
| |
Are the transaction paths on your website consistent over time, or do they vary throughout the day based on specific user scenarios? For example, some retails sites include additional steps (typically, shipping-bases steps) after a specific time of day. If so, you may be facing a daunting task when it comes to scripting your site in order to obtain valuable performance-based metrics. You can solve these scripting dilemmas with KITE 2.0 using advanced “if/then” statements and your ingenuity. Join us for a cursory glimpse of advanced “if/then” scripting techniques necessary for navigating through some of these dynamic scenarios. |
